DUI Checkpoint Friday on Route 198

Police warn that drivers under the influence will be pulled over and could face charges.

Maryland City residents and those traveling along Laurel Fort Meade Road Friday night should take note that the Anne Arundel County Police will have a DUI checkpoint along the route.

AA Co. Police Chief Larry W. Tolliver announced the checkpoint Thursday as a part of the department's “Checkpoint Strike Force through the Zero Deaths” campaign in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Maryland Highway Safety Office (MHSO).

Police have made 402 arrests for DUIs and 110 arrests for drug offenses during previous checkpoints, approaching nearly 73,658 vehicles.

The checkpoint will be along Route 198 at Race Track Road and Brock Bridge Road.
