Attorney: Baltimore Woman's Mega Millions Claim 'Legitimate'
Marlinde Wilson, the woman who says she has the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold in Maryland, held a press conference with her attorney.
Maryland Lottery spokeswoman Carole Everett told Patch Wednesday afternoon that no one has yet come forward with the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold Friday at a Milford Mill 7-Eleven.
Meanwhile, Baltimore resident Marlinde Wilson still maintains she has that ticket.
On Wednesday morning, Wilson and her attorney held a press conference.
Wilson did not speak, according to a FOX News report, but her attorney Edward Smith asked the media "to not pester his client."
Smith said her statement is "a legitimate claim," but he has not seen the ticket, the report states.
Wilson allegedly bought Mega Millions lottery tickets for herself and a pool of coworkers at the Milford Mill McDonald's where she works.
She has also said she bought a ticket separately—the winnning ticket.
One of three winning Mega Millions tickets was sold at the 7-Eleven at 8014 Liberty Road, in Milford Mill, Baltimore County, the Maryland Lottery has reported. Two others were sold in Illinois and Kansas.
Since Monday, Wilson has told the media that she has the winning ticket, but she has not shown it yet.
On Tuesday, she said she hid it in a safe place at the McDonald's in Milford Mill, according to the New York Post.
She won't go back to get it until the media attention has died down, it states.
Wilson is a resident of the Westport community in Baltimore, according to the report.
Emphasizing that the Maryland Lottery has "nothing new" to report, Everett said Wednesday that the lottery will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon to discuss the process for a winner to claim a ticket, and how the lottery would announce it.
Do you think Wilson should split her winnings with co-workers? Let us know in the comment section.

There is a very easy way to settle this matter if the lottery board is willing to get invovled. The lottery can go back and pull a ticket history off of that lottery machune that sold the winning ticket. It would clearly show if it was one ticket (with serial # on it) or if it was several tickets sold during that one transaction. Each ticket has a sequence # on it. I think the others from Mcdonalds should get and attorney.

Turns out 3 educators had the winning ticket and this was just a hoax on this woman's part. She's from Haiti which is an entirely different Creole culture so the line dividing truth and fiction may not matter to her. Wonder if she'll lose her job at the fast-food place that thought she'd swindled fellow-workers - and how is she going to pay that lawyer with 7 children to feed? Or maybe the children are no more real than the ticket...

Lol, Carole...that was EXACTLY what I was thinking! You know that lawyer is not cheap. I bet he feels like a fool right now. I was sketical of this story from the very beginning. I just can't figure out her motive for lying. Maybe she thought that people would start sucking up to her if they thought she was about to be a millionaire? Maybe it was just as simple as her not really understanding the lottery and she really did "think" she had won? But, she lost me when she said she hid the ticket in the McDonald's. Everybody with a ticket had it in their hands the night those numbers were drawn!
