Burglars Hit Three Snowball Stands: Howard County Crime Roundup
Separate robbery leads to arrest of three Laurel men, according to police.
Columbia: Robbery
Shortly after 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 24, a suspect approached a victim on the 8600 block of Basket Ring Road and asked if he could sit next to the victim.
When the victim walked away, the suspect grabbed her arm and she pulled away, dropping cigarettes and money. The suspect threw a rock at the victim, stealing the cigarettes and money, and fled.
North Laurel: Robbery
Shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 25, three male suspects approached a victim near the intersection of Fens Hollow and Gorman Road. One of the suspects showed a handgun, demanding a wallet, to which the victim complied.
The victim observed the suspects' vehicle and reported the information to police. Police observed the vehicle at Washington Boulevard and Howard Street, and stopped the vehicle. The three occupants–all from Laurel–were arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault and concealing a dangerous weapon.
Glenwood: Commercial Break-In
Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 26, an unknown number of suspects cut off the lock of Shavers Snowballs and Soft Serve, on the 3000 block of Route 97, stealing a cash drawer containing money.
Woodstock: Commercial Break-In Attempt
Between 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 26, an unknown number of suspects attempted to cut off the locks and enter the Woodstock Snowball Stand, on the 10700 block of Old Frederick Road. Police said no entry was gained.
Columbia: Commercial Break-In Attempt
Between 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 26, an unknown number of suspects attempted to force open the door of Kendall's Snowball Stand, on the 12200 block of Clarksville Pike, but failed to gain entry.
