Howard County Outages at 10,000 (Updated)

BGE is restoring power to customers across the state.

BGE is reporting approximately 10,000 power outages in Howard County as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.

That's down from 20,000 outages reported late Monday.

The number is constantly changing as restorations and other power outages occur.

The number of Maryland residents without power reached 75,000 just after 5 p.m. Monday, Gov. Martin O’Malley said at the Maryland Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Reisterstown.

Power went out in our part of Longfellow, Harper's Choice Mon at 3:30pm... still out. Still amazes me when all our power is underground. BG&E never misses an opportunity to disappoint.

Most (maybe all) of the Thunderhill neighborhood of Oakland Mills, did NOT lose power. In fact, we have not lost power during the "derecho," or the last mega- snowstorm, or any other major storm for at least the last seven years.

This, of course, is due to underground cables, and just sheer luck. For seven years. Silly rumors to the effect that this incredible string of luck has anything at all to do with any activities at the nearly nameless (except for the cryptic sign, "R and D"), barbwire-enclosed and guarded, blacked-out windowed, government facility that was built around seven years ago, immediately adjacent to Thunderhill, on Route 108, are of course, ...absurd.

I am in PA, and want to come back to apartment on Copperwood so I can return to work. From BGE's map, it looks like there's no power in the area you describe. Can you tell me if there's been any change since Tuesday?
