Man found in pond near apartment complex, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS.

A male who drowned in a pond in Laurel last night has been identified, according to news reports.

Kalif Omar Richardson, 21, of District Heights, was pulled from a pond at the Willow Lake Apartment complex on Tuesday, according to WUSA9. Initial reports claimed that Richardson was a teen, but his age has since been verified.

A male teenager drowned at an apartment complex in South Laurel, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS.

The death occurred last night along the 13000 block of Old Stage Coach Road. According to reports, the teen was seen going into a pond at the center of the apartment complex shortly before 8:45 p.m. but never came out.

By 10 p.m., rescue squads from the City of Laurel and Prince George's County began an 80-minute search of the pond, which is as deep as 4 feet, eventually locating the teen's body and rushing him to Laurel Regional Hospital.

Mark Brady, a Fire/EMS spokesman, said the teen did not have a pulse when he was pulled from the pond. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A teenage boy was rushed to Laurel Regional Hospital late Tuesday evening after he was found at the bottom of a pond in a South Laurel apartment complex, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS.

A drowning was reported shortly after 10 p.m. along the 13000 block Old Stage Coach Road at the Willow Lake Apartment complex.

Rescuers found the teen around 10:20 p.m. without a pulse and rushed him to the hospital, according to Mark Brady, a Prince George’s County Fire/EMS spokesman. Brady said paramedics are still trying to revive the teen.

The pond sits in the middle of the apartment complex and is about the size of two football fields, according to a source on the scene.
