Laurel Native Ousted on “The Voice”
Moses Haughton eliminated in live round of singing competition.
Moses Haughton’s time on NBC’s “The Voice” has come to an end.
Last night, the Laurel native who goes by Moses Stone, was voted off the first live round of the reality singing competition.
During this week’s show, Haughton sang a medley of hits by rapper Kanye West. While Haughton received high marks from the show's judges, he failed to rally votes from viewers, according The Laurel Leader.
He was the only hip-hop artist left on the show, and some judges wondered if he could prove himself as a singer and not only a rapper.
Haughton, 25, is a 2005 Laurel High graduate and was vying for a $100,000 prize.

He is very talented. I'm sure he'll do well.
