Mother Charged in Claiming False Abduction
The Capitol Heights woman reported her children were abducted when her car was stolen, police said.
A Capitol Heights woman was arrested by police and charged with allegedly making a false report to a police officer after she told police Sunday that her car was stolen with her three children inside the vehicle, according to police.
Police said that Deborah Fashakin, 33, reported her vehicle was stolen by an unknown suspect while she was pumping gas on Central Avenue. Fashakin told Prince George’s County police that her three children—ages one, three and five—were inside the car at the time of the theft. Police issued an Amber Alert on her vehicle.
The car was found by police in DC. Police released a statement that all the children were accounted for and that it was believe that Fashakin falsely claimed her children were in the car to get a faster police response time.
Fashakin is being held on $5,000 bond and faces up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
