Oakland Mills Middle Celebrates 40 Years of Teaching
Local leaders and school officials are recognizing the 40 years of teaching at the Columbia middle school
Students first walked throughout the doors of Oakland Mills Middle School in 1972, and local leaders will be on hand Friday as the school celebrates its 40 years as an institute of public learning in Columbia.

The school will host an outdoor celebration open to the community from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and Howard County Schools Superintendent Renee Foose will be joined by Deputy Superintendent Ray Brown, Board members Ellen Flynn Giles and Janet Siddiqui, State Senator Allan Kittleman, Delegates Guy Guzzone and Frank Turner, and County Council members Mary Kay Sigaty and Calvin Ball.
