Police Announce St. Patrick’s Day DUI Arrest Totals

Howard County police increased patrols over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Howard County announced Monday that they arrested 21 people for driving under the influence during increased patrols over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

“Thankfully, we'll never know if one of those drivers might have injured himself or someone else, or worse,” officials wrote on the Howard County Police Department Facebook Page.

Carroll County officials were also among the law enforcement agencies watching out for drivers under the influence over the holiday, officials reported Monday.

Two drivers were arrested in Carroll County during a weekend sobriety checkpoint, law enforcement officials said.

A sobriety checkpoint earlier this month in North Laurel netted five driver arrests, according to Howard County Police.

Seems to me that Howard County is doing some cultural sterotyping. I hope thatthese beefed up patrols are also used on New Years Eve, the Super Bowl, etc.

I was the victim of a hit and run on Saturday morning early- likely a drunk driver, still drunk from Friday night parties. I feel so lucky not to be hurt. Thank you to the police who are keeping a lookout and trying to keep us safe.
