These "buried treasure candles" can be found inside ArtCraft, one of the mill's flagship stores. ArtCraft, which opened at the mill in 1992, offers a wide range of artwork from over 500 American artists. Art includes handcrafted furniture, glass, ceramics, metal, wood and fiber jewelry. These candles were priced at $24.

Combing through the winding hallways and grand rooms of Savage Mill's eclectic shops is a bit like stepping back in time to when store owners manned their shops' counters and gifts didn't come in impossible-to-open plastic shrink wrap.

Savage Mill is the location of more than 30 small shops that offer toys and gifts ranging from magic tricks to antique clocks. Patch combed through several of the stores last week to present you with the photos above.

On Dec. 10 the mill began its holiday hours, which will run until Christmas Eve. During that time, shops will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Also, the mill is hosting special events during the holiday season:

  • River Hill High School Chamber Choir is scheduled to perform from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 16
  • Cenntennial High School Madrigals are scheduled to perform on Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Live Jazz Music will take place in the New Weave Building on Dec. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Great idea for a story! I keep meaning to get over there to the Canine Clipper Cafe and now I will definitely make it there! Thanks.
