Things to Know: Family Night, Council Hearing

Weather: Weather.com is calling for a sunny day with a high of 51 and a low of 39.

Events: Family, friends and all supporters of Hammond High School are invited out to the school's fall Family nights at Trattoria da Enrico in Kings Contrivance Village. From 2 to 9 p.m., the restaurant will donate 20 percent of all purchases made when showing the flier for the school.

A Howard County Council hearing is at 7:30 p.m. in the Banneker Room of the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Dr, Ellicott City.

Reader Shout Out:  Patch reader Lorraine Kelly doesn't like the possibility of Howard County middle schools cutting its reading programs, "I was taken back with this suggestion... Maybe keep the reading for those students who could use more experience and exposure to materials that interest them with volunteers. Hopefully the school board will not make a snap decision and will read up on the information on the benefits and disavanatages of such a drastic change."
