Want to know what high school students think about underage drinking? You can have your chance at the Howard County Student Film Festival, scheduled for Friday March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab Kossiakoff Center, 11100 Johns Hopkins Road in Laurel. This year, the Howard County Student Film Festival is teaming up with HC Drug Free, an organization in Howard County that promotes an alcohol and drug-free environment for youth. As a result, the festival has a new public service announcement category. Participants in that category are asked to create a 30 to 90 second public service announcement focused on underage drinking. Dancing With The Stars debuted its new season Monday night, featuring the Ravens receiver and the Baltimore-based figure skating champion.
Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones broke out "the squirrel" with partner Karina Smirnoff in his first performance on Dancing With The Stars Monday night. The season premiere also featured Baltimore's Dorothy Hamill, the Olympic and world champion figure skater. Check out the video with this post for their performances. Jones earned a score of 19 out of 30 dancing to "Cha Cha Cha", while Hamill pulled in a 21 with her perfomance to "Tiny Dancer." The series airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on ABC. Jones was asked to perform on the program after his charisma and dance moves were on display during and following the Ravens' Super Bowl victory in February. The jam band with a dedicated following returns to Merriweather Post Pavilion for the first time since 2011.
Phish, the psychedelic jam band from Vermont that is known to pack concert venues with its dedicated fans, will return to Merriweather Post Pavilion for two 2013 shows on July 13 and 14. The band announced its summer 2013 tour dates on its website and Facebook page on March 12. Merriweather will be the band's sixth stop on the tour, which begins in Bangor, Maine on July 3. Phish is known for its long, improvised songs that follow in the tradition of the Grateful Dead. Tickets are $60 for general admission and $45 for lawn seats. The band last played Merriweather in 2011. They played two sold-out shows on June 11 and 12. Over the two days of concerts that year, 24 people were arrested, mostly for drug-related offenses. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a corned beef and cabbage recipe that is delicious and incredibly easy to make.
Five ingredients, one crockpot and a few hours of cooking time is all it takes to prepare this corned beef and cabbage recipe. With minimal preparation time, you can start this meal early in the day and enjoy a St. Patrick's Day feast by supper. Ingredients: Corned beef brisket (I used Murphy's and David with included seasoning packet) 1/2 small onion, sliced 8 - ounces of baby carrots 1 dozen very small potatoes (I used baby golds) 1 head of cabbage, cut into wedges Directions: Place brisket in a 6-quart crockpot and sprinkle with seasoning packet. Top with sliced onion, carrots and potatoes. Cover meat and vegetables with water and cook on high for four hours. Reduce heat to low. Place cabbage wedges on top of meat and vegetable mixture…
