On Tuesday, the Chamber of Commerce came out with a list of States seen growing and creating jobs. Maryland was named as one of the top states in the nation. Here’s what they had to say about us in the Enterprising States 2012 report:
“Maryland continues to focus on developing technology jobs, building on its national leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship. The state’s new Invest Maryland initiative raised $84 million of venture capital in 2012 by the online auction of tax credits to insurance companies, exceeding its goal of $70 million to $75 million. The new funds will be split between private investment firms and the state’s Maryland Venture Fund to make investments in promising tech-based startups. State profits on investments will be directed into the venture fund to support future investments or be placed into the state’s general fund.
"In addition to seeking new sources of venture capital for growing tech firms, Maryland also continues to offer a variety of tax credits focused on supporting job creation in technology-based sectors. These include a biotechnology tax credit of up to 50 percent for qualified investments in Maryland-based companies and a research and development tax credit.
"While it is strong in innovative research and development activity, Maryland has identified commercialization of innovations developed in the state as an area in need of more focus. The state’s new Innovate Maryland initiative, adopted by the 2012 General Assembly, is designed to build a technology transfer partnership between state agencies, federal labs, and several of the state’s universities. Led by the state’s successful Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), the new initiative will provide grants to university-based researchers developing technologies with commercial potential, supporting the creation of new innovation-based companies and jobs in the state.
"Governor Martin O’Malley has also emphasized government reform as part of his job-creation strategy. In 2011, he launched a “Job Creation Through Regulatory Reform” initiative, focused on conducting an intensive, two-month review of state rules and regulations. Each agency in government was directed to find ways to streamline regulation and better interact with the private sector. The process led to the identification of 131 regulations for repeal or revision. The state launched the Maryland Made Easy initiative to ease business interaction with government agencies. The project includes creation of a one-stop website to access licensing and permitting resources, expedited state review of development proposals, and reforms of permitting processes to increase efficiency and reduce barriers for business.
"Maryland is among the nation’s leading states for STEM job concentration. The state is home to a strong concentration of technology-based industries, which have helped Maryland become a center for academic and private-sector research and development.”
Martin O'Malley is the Governor of Maryland. He writes a regular blog for his official website.

Governor you keep putting it out there and I'll keep your propaganda in perspective.
You wouldn't last five seconds on Neil Cavoto's show.

The smoke and mirror games on the budget are over. You kicked the can down the road far too long.

Oh, I almost forgot, the state's $1 billion in the red. Red means stop the play on words and fess up. Your shot at the White House is looking more like a shade of gray.
Does this clip remind you of some miss steps, the same steps the president is taking as he is headed out the door.

Not to kick sand on the topic, - not sure if the sand is toxic - but little matters like this piece in the Sun is right up your alley.

Buzz he is to much, yesterday he politically lynched an Afro American and got away with it because the Afro American aligned himself with the republicans. The news sad the administration contacted the prosecutor after hearing him on channel 13 say the govenor was behind his persecution Mr.Henson didn't get it was the words of the prosecutor and was taken out of the court in chains for two months. I mean you can't make this stuff up what he gets away with.Even Mr. Henson biggest competitor who said he doesn't like him personally Mr. Gibson said it was totally wrong what was done and how it was done.Where is the NAACP?Mr.Henson wasn't smart in any of his dealings but NO one could expect the way O'Malley handled this . He really thinks he is the king ,maybe he is, but he killed his presidential bid yesterday just for his petty pride.

We are only well positioned for job improvement because of something called BRAC. Fact is BRAC final report was August 2005,Who was Govenor then? Just think if we did the casinos like Erlich wanted having the assembly actually make the decisions which would have put us maybe 10 years ahead of schedule were still fighting for where to put casinos.Erlich way would have covered that .Maryland used to be America in minature now it's known as O'Malley's Alley and is memorialized in "The Wire" where he took a failed city and spread it statewide.

Hmmm Perhaps Ms. Guillory should have waited for that painfully disappointing jobs report to be published before essentially posting a blog entry full of the typical OweMalley Brain Sterilization organic fertilizer. It really is a shame that the mean old bully called The Truth has to ruin such a pretty nursery rhyme.

The quality of products has diminished by way of greed....until plans are set into place that begin to improve "made in America" quality the job situation will remain dim. We have outsourced the quality leaving many Americans with no opportunity to develop necessary skills. Everything from housing to handbags... as the fair dollar value of quality is diminished ~ so goes the economy...

Hey Frank, read the Sun much? The state's $1 billion with a B budget shortfall is not a winner. Who do you think is footing the bill for O'Malley's and Obama's 800,000 new job seekers that now can claim tax credits for children in other countries to the tune of $4 billion with a B?

Yeah Frank, true pandering leadership.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Or if you prefer ask the governor what guitar chord that is. I would say it's a flat bar chord. Even my Gibson and Martin have problems with those flat bar chords.
