5 Things To Know In Laurel, June 3.

Here's a few things you need to know in Laurel today.

  1. Is a battle brewing between Laurel and Prince George's County? Officials in the city say they plan to protest legislation issued by the Board of License Commissioners that would allow for home delivery of liquor in Laurel and allow dance clubs in areas not zoned for them. Laurel has control over its land use and zoning, according to Robert Manzi, the city's solicitor.

  3. Like ice cream? What about socializing? You're in luck. Community members from West Laurel will be holding an from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the West Laurel Community Building at 16501 Supplee Lane.
  4. Prince George's County Police will be holding a neighborhood walk this evening in Laurel at the Victoria Halls community. The walk is designed to promote the neighborhood watch program within the community. During this event, crime prevention pamphlets and safety tips will be offered to community members. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 3401 Belle Chasse Boulevard.
  5. Mayor Craig A. Moe and Chief Richard McLaughlin announced this week that the Laurel Police Department has included use of the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) in its analysis of calls for service. The Lethality Assessment Program is an easy and effective method that identifies victims of domestic violence who are at risk of being seriously injured or killed by their intimate partners.
