9 Tornadoes Reported in Maryland in Friday’s Storm

Trees were down and a barn roof was peeled off.

Nine tornadoes touched down in six counties across Maryland during Friday's storm, according to the National Weather Service.

There were also as high winds and heavy rain hit accompanied the storm.

Damages were reported across the state, according to National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center data.

  •  A tornado reported one mile west of Damascus in Montgomery County caused damage mainly to trees, and a portion of a barn roof was peeled off. Damage was also reported to several homes.
  •  As a result of two tornados reported in Carroll County, one that was  two miles southeast of Mount Airy and another tht was three miles northwest of Gamber, there were uprooted and snapped trees. One of the Carroll County tornadoes traveled four miles and had a width of 150 yards.
  • There were uprooted and snapped trees as a result of a brief tornado reported one mile northwest of Springdale in Prince George’s County.
  • A tornado was also reported inside the perimeter of BWI airport, according to Weather Service data. Staff said they observed tree debris from the tornado.

In total on Friday, tornadoes were reported in Montgomery, Carroll, Howard, Harford, Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties, according to the National Weather Service.
