Why to go:  Here is the group social ride schedule for our regular Saturday morning rides in August (all rides start and end at Proteus bike shop):

8am – Food ride — easy ride on paved trails (NE Branch) with stops at pastry shop or farmers market.  We’ll take the Anacostia Tributary trails to the bakery at where Route 1 crosses the NW Branch trail.  I can verify that their apple turnovers at Shortcake bakery are outstanding, and they have coffee, other pastries etc.  These rides will take a very relaxed pace and no one is left behind.

10am – Greenbelt National Park or Beltsville Farms ride. August 4th:  Park ride -- We’ll take a relaxed pace through Greenbelt to get to the park, and then do a couple laps on the park loop and some hill climbing (!) before heading back, possibly with a stop for drinks at the New Deal Café in Greenbelt.
August 25th:  Farm ride -- We'll take a 22 mile loop from the shop to the Patuxent National Wildlife Refuge.  Very scenic -- moderate pace.  No one will be dropped or left behind, although sometimes we split up into groups of faster or slower riders.
