Holiday Candlelight Tours

  • Where:  Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel 
  • When:  Friday, Dec. 7, Saturday, Dec. 8, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Description:   Refreshments, live holiday music by area performers, tours of mansion decorated with greens and lit by candlelight.
  • Cost:  Kids 5 & Under: Free / Kids 6-18: $1 / Adults $3

Maryland: A House Divided, an Exhibition

  • Where:  Surratt House Museum, 9118 Brandywine Road, Clinton
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 – Sunday, Dec. 17, Saturdays & Sundays: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Surratt House commemorates the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War with a focus on Maryland’s role in the conflict. No reservations required. 
  • Cost: Children 5-18: $1 / Adults: $3 / Seniors: $2

 

Holiday Ornament Emporium

  • Where: Montpelier Mansion/Historic Site, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel
  • When:  Friday, Dec. 7 – Sunday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (closed Wednesdays)
  • Description:  A juried show of handmade art ornaments. All ornaments for sale.  House will be decorated in traditional holiday greens, by local garden clubs.
  • Cost: Free; donations to Montpelier welcome   

 

Santa's Cookies and Crafts

  • Where:  Hillcrest Heights Community Center
    2300 Oxon Run Drive, Temple Hills
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Description:  Arts, crafts, face painting and more.
  • Cost: $6

 

Winter Wonderland

  • Where:  431 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Description:  Ages 2-12 are invited to enjoy crafts, games, Santa and more.
  • Cost: $6 per child (includes photo with Santa)

 

Vansville Elementary 3rd Annual Winter Bazaar

  • Where: 6813 Ammendale Rd, Beltsville
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Description: Vansville Elementary PTA is sponsoring their 3rd Annual Winter Bazaar. Concessions available for purchase.
  • Cost: Free

 

Red Note Art Exhibit - ART FINALE

  • Where:   C Street Gallery, 19 C St, Laurel
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m.
  • Description:  Open mic event.  All are welcome to share talents, music, poetry, dance, prose and more.
  • Cost: Free

 

Evangel Cathedral Christmas Celebration

  • Where:  13901 Central Ave., Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 1 – Sunday, Dec. 16
  • Description:   Celebration featuring: Vicki Winans, Bebe & CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, MarvinSapp, Fred Hammond,Tye Tribbett and Beverly Crawford.

13th Annual, Gingerbread House Contest and Show

  • Where:  Darnall's Chance House Museum, 14800 Gov. Oden Bowie Dr, Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Friday, Nov. 23 – Sunday, Dec. 9, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Description:  Annual contest and show, adult and children entries each win $350.00.
  • Cost:  Free

 

Winter Festival of Lights

  • Where: 301 Watkins Park Dr, Rt 193 and 214, Upper Marlboro
  • When: Friday, Nov. 23 – Tuesday, Jan. 1, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
  • Description:  26th annual drive-through light display.
  • Cost:  $5/cars and vans, $15/mini-buses and limos, $25/buses, $10/multi-visit passes for cars and vans. The festival is FREE on December 25.

 

Holidays in the Heritage Area

  • Where: 4310 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Jan. 12
  • Description:  75 different holiday related programs within 85 square miles of Anacostia Trails Heritage area.
  • Cost: Free
