Too busy to plan a kids weekend? Don't worry, Laurel Patch has you covered.

FAMILY ACADEMY

Where/When: Laurel Elementary School at 516 Montgomery St. in Laurel on Saturday, Feb. 19, from
8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why Go: There are a variety of workshops for the whole family on topics like Internet safety,
managing difficult behaviors and helping your child become a good reader. These workshops are
presented in English and Spanish, so there is no language barrier either. This is a great way to spend
some quality time with your kids while all of you gain some valuable knowledge.

NATIONAL BUILDING MUSEUM: ENGINEERING FAMILY DAY

Where/When: The National Building Museum at 401 F St. NW in Washington, DC on Saturday, Feb.
19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Kids can meeting Sid the Science Kid, help operate a LEGO robot, learn more about
engineering by exploring a tsunami tank and design their own parachute. If those reasons aren't
enough to get you to come out, here is one more: it's free! (Although donations are always welcome.)
