Mom Talk: What Can be Done to Cure Violence in Schools

Each week, a team of area moms are posing a hot topic question to area families, and we'd like to know what you think.

This weeks question surrounds the arrestof Susan Burke, a first grade teacher at Greencastle Elementary School in Silver Spring., amid allegations that she physically assaulted eight of her students including grabbing and scratching, choking, and punching them.

Who hasn't seen an elementary school teacher grab students, or direct them by touching them?  But at what point does this become a problem and a path to abuse? Do you believe teachers have the right to lay their hands on students, even for discipline?
