PHOTOS: First Lady Promotes Healthy Dining In Prince George's County

Here are some photos of Michelle Obama's trip to Olive Garden on East West Highway in Hyattsville.

First Lady Michelle Obama tastefully made her way to the Hyattsville  Thursday morning, highlighting the need for healthier eating-out options.

Obama, who has championed healthier living in her “Let’s Move” campaign since 2010, lauded the efforts of Darden Restaurants, Inc.—the company owns Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze and Red Lobster—which agreed to reduce the amount of calories and sodium in its foods in the coming years.

  • Reducing sodium by 10 percent in the next five years and 20 percent in the next 10 years
  • Ensuring children's menus use specific nutrition standards to aid in development of meals
  • Making fruits or vegetables the default for side dish options and with children's meals
  • Making an 8-ounce serving of 1 percent milk the default beverage for kids and allowing milk to be served with free refills.
