Police: Two Arrested in Assault at Laurel-Area Knights Inn

Gus T. Williams, 29, of Queenstown, and Melanie K. Camacho, 24, of Landover, were arrested Wednesday in the alleged assault of a woman in a Maryland City hotel room. The two were charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and weapons charges.

Firefighter Declares Mayday, Man Rescued in Greenbelt Fire Wednesday

The fire began around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 9100 block of Edmonston Terrace in Greenbelt.

Police Searching for Missing UMD Student

David Johnathan Scherr, 20, was last seen on campus in College Park at 2 p.m. in a Ravens shirts and white plaid shorts. He has been missing since Dec. 19. (Update: Prince George's County police say Scherr's body was found Friday night. Authorities are investigating his death as a suicide.)

No Injuries in Knowledge Lane House Fire

Though there were early reports of children trapped inside the home, firefighters extinguished the blaze at 12500 block of Knowledge Lane and no injuries were reported, according to Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) spokesperson Mark Brady.
