Round Up: Family Fun Events in Prince George’s County This Weekend

Here are some fun things to do around town with the family this weekend.

Why to go:  Celebrate the best of Bowie through music, dance, food, rides, non-profit organizations and crafters. Enjoy performances on two stages and check out crafts and vendors.

Where/When: Tucker Road Athletic Complex, 1770 Tucker Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744, Saturday, June 2, 2012, 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m. (*Note:  Tucker Road Athletic Complex is a newly designated location.)

Why to go:  There is something for everyone at this fun day of cooking competition! Cooks from up and down the East Coast will be competing for a spot in the national competition in Kansas City. You'll get a chance to join the fun by voting for the best BBQ sauce in the "People's Choice BBQ Sauce Contest."

Where/When: Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Road, Bladensburg, MD 20710, Saturday, June 2, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Why to go:  Hosted by the Caribbean Council of Prince George’s County Come experience “A Taste of the Caribbean,” performances, delicious food, craft vendors, free boat rides, ‘pon de river,’ and more.

Where/When: 125 York Road, Towson, MD, Friday, June 1, 2012, 8:00 p.m.  

Why to go:  The Friday Night Swing Dance Club run dances with Great Bands EVERY Friday night in Towson. Our $12 Fee includes a beginning Swing Class at 8:00 to 9:00, a super dance band every Friday Night from 9:00 to Mid-night, and light refreshments.

Dances are open to the public to all ages 16 years old and up. NO PARTNERS NECESSARY.

Where/When: National Mall, 15th St NW & Jefferson Drive, SW, Washington, DC, Saturday, June 2, 8:00 a.m.

Why to go:  The 23rd Annual Susan G. Komen Global Race For The Cure®, run annually on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., will be held on June 2nd, 2012, and will enable the organization to continue its investments in education, screening, treatment and support, both locally and across the globe. Three out of every four dollars generated by the Race remain in the National Capital Area to address local breast health challenges, while the remaining funds will support Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s efforts to address the growing breast cancer crisis globally.
