Santa Fly-In, Christmas Tea and More in Prince George’s County this Weekend

Looking for some exciting things to do this weekend? Check out some of the fun things going on around town.

Santa Fly-In

  • Where:  1985 Cpl. Frank Scott Drive, College Park 
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Watch Santa fly into the historic College Park Airport and then have your picture taken with him. Enjoy holiday arts and crafts in the museum.
  • Cost: $4/adults, $3/seniors, $2/ages 2-18, FREE/children under 2

Christmas Tea

  • Where:  14300 St. Thomas Church Road,  Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 1, 12 p.m.  – 3 p.m.
  • Description:  A Christmas tea including live seasonal music and seasonal décor.  
  • Cost: Free

Friends of Patuxent Wildlife Holiday Bazaar

  • Where:  10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Gifts for sale, proceeds support both the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and the Patuxent Research Refuge. No Registration Necessary.
  • Cost: Free

 

Festival of Lights Juried Art and Craft Fair

  • Where: The Greenbelt Community Center
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Description: The fair aims to provide an opportunity for art-lovers to find reasonably priced gifts from some 73 artists offering hand-made wares including fine art, glass, wood, ceramics, photography and fiber arts as well as toys, soaps, skin care products, jewelry and accessories, and publications by local authors.
  • Cost: Entry to the fair is free

 

St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School's 29th Annual Christmas Craft Festival

  • Where:  4610 Largo Road (Rt. 202)Upper Marlboro
  • When:   Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:   Many crafters with handmade items, bake table, door prizes and more.
  • Cost: Free

 

Multicultural Winter Festival

  • Where:  Oxen Hill Farm, Oxon Hill Rd off Rt 210, Oxon Hill
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Description:   Educational program that explains how African Americans, American Indians, and Europeans celebrated the holidays in the early 1800s.
  • Cost:  Free

 

Evangel Cathedral Christmas Celebration

  • Where:  13901 Central Ave., Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Saturday, Dec. 1 – Sunday, Dec. 16
  • Description:   Celebration featuring: Vicki Winans, Bebe & CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, MarvinSapp, Fred Hammond,Tye Tribbett and Beverly Crawford.

13th Annual, Gingerbread House Contest and Show

  • Where:  Darnall's Chance House Museum, 14800 Gov. Oden Bowie Dr, Upper Marlboro
  • When:  Friday, Nov. 23 – Sunday, Dec. 9, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Description:  Annual contest and show, adult and children entries each win $350.00.
  • Cost:  Free

 

Winter Festival of Lights

  • Where: 301 Watkins Park Dr, Rt 193 and 214, Upper Marlboro
  • When: Friday, Nov. 23 – Tuesday, Jan. 1, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
  • Description:  26th annual drive-through light display.
  • Cost:  $5/cars and vans, $15/mini-buses and limos, $25/buses, $10/multi-visit passes for cars and vans. The festival is FREE on December 25.

 

Holidays in the Heritage Area

  • Where: 4310 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Jan. 12
  • Description:  75 different holiday related programs within 85 square miles of Anacostia Trails Heritage area.
  • Cost: Free

 

MODERNISM: James Hilleary and Color – Opening Reception and Discussion

  • Where:  3501 University Blvd E, Adelphi
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 2, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Description:  This exhibition features approximately 30 works in various sizes from the past 50 years and includes paintings from each of Hilleary's signature series.
  • Cost:  Free
