The Monday Roundup: Emancipation Day Parade

Here's a look at what's been happening around town.

The St. Mark's United Methodist Church held its annual Emancipation Day Celebration on Saturday.

The parade kicked off at Emancipation Park along Eighth Street and featured the officials from the City of Laurel, as well as food vendors, and live music.

The event celebrates the the freeing of slaves in America, and the parade has become the oldest event in Laurel spanning more than 100 years.
