Recipe of the Week: Shrimp Cocktail With a Twist
A great appetizer for holiday dinner or your New Year's Party.
Try a litttle spin on a classic appetizer. This is my Shrimp Cocktail with aTwist.
Here is what you will need:
- 1 1/2 Tbsn Butter
- 2 Table Spoons Olive Oil
- Shrimp (tail on, peeled and deveined)
- Cocktail Sauce
- Thyme
- Rosemary
- Seasonings of your choice
- 1 Clove of Garlic
- 1/4 Shallot
- 1/4 White Onion
- 1/2 Lemon
- Cocktail Sauce

- Chop onion, shallot and garlic clove.
- Warm up olive oil and melt butter on low heat in a non stick skillet.
- Toss in chopped vegetables, a few sprigs of fresh Thyme and one stem of fresh Rosemary.
- Lightly season shrimp with desired selection of spices.
- Sautee shrimp over medium heat for about 10-15 uncovered.
- Squeeze the juice from1/2 fresh lemon.
- Cover and reduce heat.
- Allow an additional 5-10 minutes of simmering.
- Remove shrimp and plate leaving in thyme but removing the rosemary.
- Pour left over sauce over shrimp.
Tasty Tip: Pour a little sauce from the shrimp into the cocktail sauce for added flavor.
