$300 Million Jackpot: Next Powerball Drawing Saturday

The drawing will air at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV.

Citing nationwide sales, Powerball officials on Friday raised the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing.

The jackpot jumped from $290 million to $300 million, with a $172.7 million cash option, Maryland Lottery officials announced. The drawing will be held Saturday night and air at 11:22 p.m. ET on WBAL-TV (Baltimore area) and 10:59 p.m. ET on WJLA's NewsChannel 8 (D.C. area).

The prize is far short of the record jackpot. In 2012, a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot had three winning tickets, including one split among three school employees in Maryland. The largest Powerball jackpot on record is $600 million, which was awarded in May.

If you’re feeling lucky, the odds of matching the five winning numbers and the Powerball are 175,223,510 to 1, according to the game’s website. That’s less than the odds of picking a perfect March Madness bracket (13,460,000 to 1), getting a hole in one (5,000 to 1) or being struck by lightning (3,000 to 1).
