Five Guys Looking for an Ellicott City Location

The fast-food burger chain is looking for a suitable site in Ellicott City.

Know of a 2,500 -  3,000 square foot space for rent?

That’s how much room Mike McLaughlin is looking for to open another Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant, reports the Baltimore Business Journal.

McLaughlin, who already owns seven of the restaurants, is looking to open numbers eight and nine in Ellicott City and Dundalk. The Millersville resident told the Journal that he’s looking for free-standing or strip center locations for the burger chain.

Forbes magazine in its August issue called Five Guys the fastest-growing chain in the United States. There are currently 55 locations in Marylandand more than 1,000 locations in the United States and Canada, according to the corporate website. The chain started in Arlington, VA in 1986, according to the website.

McLaughlin told the Journal that the business model worked because of its simplicity. “If we focus on doing a few things right," he said, "you could build a very good business out of that.”

You ever eat at a Five Guys? Fantastic burgers!!! Humongous quantity of fries!!! It's not a fast food joint, so they don't cook anything until you order it, and it takes 7-9 minutes. So unless you think people - you - would be willing to wait in a drive through line for 15-20 minutes or longer, you'll just have to walk in and wait like the rest of us.

I would love to see Amerigas (eyesore), at Route 40 and Centennial Lane, be replaced by something like this. Guess they won't let loose of the property for as valuable as it might be. They seem to be the last old "hold-out" in the immediate vicinity. Everything else has, or is being, modernized in this vicinity.

The old gas station location on St. John's Lane and Rt.40 in the Bare Bones shopping complex wouldn't work? Otherwise, there is that new little shopping center near where the High's used to be near Rt. 40 and Old Frederick Road.

There are some strip locations available on Chevrolet Drive, you have tons of offices, dealerships close by. We really need a Five Guys in The Ellicott City Area!!!!
