Community Foundation of Howard County Receives National Reaccreditation

The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, achieved reaccreditation with the Community Foundations National Standards Board. The Community Foundation has been accredited for the last 10 years.
“We work to support the causes the Howard County community cares about, which include the arts, education, social services, health and wellness, and community development,” said Beverly White-Seals, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Howard County. “Achieving accreditation from the National Standards Board is confirmation that we have sound policies and practices in place and our donors may rest assured that we meet the highest standards of accountability and transparency.”
The National Standards Board, a supporting organization of the Council on Foundations, establishes legal, ethical, effective practices for community foundations. Accreditation requires foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grant-making and administration. More than 500 foundations have received accreditation nationwide.
“Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process,” said Hugh Ralston, chair of the Community Foundations National Standards Board. “This accreditation is a significant accomplishment that says the Community Foundation of Howard County has demonstrated a commitment to quality, integrity and accountability.”
