Columbia Association (CA) will reopen some of its facilities at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 30, though its pathway system will remain closed out of caution as CA crews assess how much damage Hurricane Sandy left behind in its wake.

The facilities opening at noon with limited operations are: Columbia Athletic Club, Columbia Gym, Columbia Art Center and Columbia Ice Rink. There will be no classes, lessons or programs today at the Columbia Athletic Club, Columbia Gym or Columbia Art Center. KidSpace will have limited operations; please call the facility ahead of time (Athletic Club: 410-730-6755; Columbia Gym: 410-531-8984).

Supreme Sports Club, Columbia Swim Center and Owen Brown Tennis Bubble are closed temporarily until power is restored. CA will send out further updates as facilities reopen. Six facilities will remain closed for the entirety of the day: CA Headquarters, Youth and Teen Center @ The Barn, Columbia Archives, Fairway Hills Golf Club, Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club and Columbia SportsPark.

The boardwalk at Lake Kittamaqundi is underwater and is closed. CA staff are reporting that the dams at Lake Elkhorn, Wilde Lake and the Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club held up well during the heavy rainfall. Crews will be working on cleanup efforts at CA’s facilities, parking lots, parks and pathways. To report a downed tree on CA’s open space, call 410-312-6330 or email open.space@columbiaassociation.org.

CA is continually monitoring the aftermath of the storm and is working closely with local and state officials. Residents can stay updated via the Inclement Weather Hotline at 410-715-3154 and/or can sign up for email and/or text message notifications via CA’s urgent notification system at columbiaassociation.org/notify.  Residents can also sign up for the County’s emergency notification system, NotifyMeHoward, at notifyme.howardcountymd.gov for local emergency information.
