Cat Shot With 2-Foot Arrow, Police Search for Suspect

The cat survived the injury, and was cared for by a rescue group who is searching for a new home for her.

Authorities are searching for the person responsible for shooting a cat with an arrow in the Davidsonville area, according to a release.

The two-year-old cat—Xena—survived the injury and is recovering at a clinic in Harwood, police said.

Xena's owner found her Wednesday at their residence in the 3000 block of Riva Road with a two-foot arrow sticking out of her left shoulder. The location of the incident and the identity of the one responsible for the injury remains unknown, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County police.

“Xena was scared and unable to be caught initially, but Animal Control was finally able to take her into custody on Friday,” according to the release. “The owner immediately surrendered custody of Xena with the hopes that she could be saved and found a new home.”

The local rescue group Rude Ranch Animal Rescue in Harwood was contacted to treat Xena and locate a new home, if she recovers from the injury. The group provided arrangements for her to be cared for by veterinarians at the Belair Veterinary Hospital in Bowie.
