Update, 3:21 p.m.:
A flood watch issued earlier in the day for Laurel and the surrounding region has been canceled.
More rain is still expected through this evening.
Laurel and much of the region will be under a flood watch Tuesday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service reports.
The watch goes into effect at 3 p.m.
Rain is forecast to begin around noon and continue overnight. Between one and two inches of rainfall are expected by day's end, with temperatures ranging from the low- to mid-40s.
Winds may pick up too, with gusts in the low 20 mph range. Patchy fog is likely between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.
More rain is possible Wednesday, mostly before 1 p.m. Expect cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-50s during the day.
Laurel saw significant flooding along the Patuxent River last month after heavy rains prompted the release of water from the T. Howard Duckett Dam.
One person—Anifa Kiwanuka, 26—died in the floodwaters.
