Laurel Crime: Stabbing at Laurel Station, Driver Stuck on Median Faces DUI

A rundown of recent arrests and police responses.

The following is a rundown of notable arrests and police responses in the City of Laurel from June 1-7, 2013. Incident details are provided by the Laurel Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

Saturday, June 1

SHOPLIFTING ARREST | 341 Montrose Ave (Marshalls): Officers responded to the business for the report of a shoplifter. When officers arrived they arrested a juvenile for shoplifting.

WARRANT/OPEN ALCOHOL ARRESTS | Officers responded to a picnic area on Cypress St for the report of four subjects drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. When officers arrived they made contact with four subjects in the park area. A 24-year-old man was arrested for having open alcohol and a 21-year-old man was arrested for an open warrant. 

WEAPONS VIOLATION | 8300 block of Cherry Ln. (Laurel Lakes Executive Park), 2:39 a.m.: Officers conducting a periodic check of the lakefront park area located two vehicles with multiple subjects in and around them. Officers could smell the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicles and subjects. Through investigation two loaded firearms were recovered and a 9-inch knife. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with concealed deadly weapon and other charges. A 22-year-old man was also arrested for having an open warrant for burglary and drug paraphernalia.

Sunday, June 2

TRESPASSING | 800 block of Washington Blvd.: A 26-year-old suspect was arrested for trespassing. 

DUI | 14700 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers responded to the area for a vehicle stuck on the center concrete median. Upon police arrival, officers observed a 37-year-old man trying to remove his vehicle from the median. After preliminary investigation, the subject was arrested for DUI, open alcohol, driving without a driver’s license, and an open warrant for driving without a driver’s license. 

BURGLARY | 500 block of Main St.: Officers responded to the 500 block of Main Street for the report of a burglary. Officers observed that the front glass door to the Quick Stop convenience store shattered and the front door open. Detectives were notified.

Monday, June 3

DUI | 600 block of Prince George St.: Officers noticed a vehicle driving with a flat tire and made a traffic stop. The driver was found to be under the influence of drugs. A 31-year-old Laurel man was arrested for DUI. 

DISORDERLY | 14100 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers detained two juveniles for an attempted shoplifting at the Best Buy. The mother of one of the juveniles, a 49-year-old, also ended up getting arrested for disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at the store. 

WARRANT | 15100 block of Baltimore Ave.: A 31-year-old man was arrested on an open warrant for violation of probation.

DRUG ARREST | 300 block of Washington Blvd.: A 43-year-old man was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. 

DUI | 100 block of Irving St.: Officers responded to the 100 block of Irving Street in Laurel for a domestic violence call. After preliminary investigation, officers arrested a 30-year-old man for driving under the influence. He was transported to the Laurel Police Station where he was charged with DUI and later released on citations.

Friday, June 7

DRUG ARREST | 800 block of Montgomery St.: Officers contacted two men at McCullough Field. The subjects, 31 and 25 years old, were found to be under the influence of Phencyclidine (PCP) and were arrested for trespassing. The 31-year-old man was also charged with possession of PCP.

STABBING | 14933 Baltimore Ave.: Officers responded to Laurel Station Bar and Grill for the report of a stabbing. Officers contacted a male victim suffering from two puncture wounds and a laceration to his chest, arm, and back. The victim stated he was stabbed in the rear parking lot of Laurel Station while walking to his vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was reported in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Laurel Police Detectives at 301-498-0092.

DRUG ARREST | 100 block of Second St.: Officers responded to the Citgo for a fight. Officers contacted a subject, a 23-year-old Severn man, who was involved in the fight. He was found to be in possession of PCP and arrested.
