Laurel Man Pleads Gulity to Health Care Fraud

Uche Ben Odunzeh, 31, faces up to 10 years in prison.

A Laurel man pled guilty to health care fraud Tuesday after charges that he submitted exaggerated Medicaid claims for wheelchairs, the Washington Post reports.

Uche Ben Odunzeh, 31, entered the plea at U.S. District Court in Washington. He has agreed to pay $277,000 and faces up to 10 years in prison, according to the paper.

A statement of offense in the case asserts that Odunzeh, owner of Emerald Medical Services, filed claims with District of Columbia’s Medicaid program for power wheelchairs while only providing clients with basic models.
