Laurel Police Blotter: Police Search For Hotel Robber

Man Who Robbed Laurel Hotel Twice Sought by Police

Laurel Police are searching for an armed man who robbed the Quality Inn Hotel twice is one week.

The incident happened Aug. 20 along the Second Street. According to police, a man entered the hotel wearing a white tee shirt with his head and hands covered with a towel and appeared to be holding a weapon. The suspect demanded money.  Police said, the suspect fled on foot with a small amount of stolen money. No injuries were reported, according to police.

The next day a suspect matching the description of the robbery suspect walked to the doors of the hotel only to find the doors were locked. The suspect through a brick through the glass doors and entered the hotel and appeared to be holding a weapon again wrapped with a cloth. The suspect took a small of money and fled the area.

The suspect is now described as a black male, 6-feet, 220 pouds, wearing a red hooded jacket, tan pants cargo pants and possibly armed with a weapon.

Laurel Police Search for CVS Store Robber

The incident happened Aug. 23 along the 300 block of Domer Avenue.  According to police, a man entered the store and requested something from behind the counter and as an employee went behind the counter the man appeared to be holding a handgun demanded the employee to open the cash register.

According to police, the employee told the suspect he did not have a key to open the register. The suspect then threatened the suspect by saying he would be shot. The suspect realizing he could not obtain any money fled out the door and was seen running south on Domer Avenue.

No one was injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” to 6’ tall, slim build, clean shaven wearing blue jean shorts, blue and white striped short sleeve shirt, white shoes and possibly armed with a handgun

Washer dryer unit and five air conditioners stolen from a house.

08/19/11   

400 Block Montgomery Street     

Echo backpack blower and Shindaiwa hedge trimmer stolen from the City of Laurel Parks and Recreation Center.

08/20/11  

9400 Block Trevino Terrance   

Two chrome center caps stolen off the wheels of a Cadillac.

1000 Block Seventh Street      

A small air compressor and airbrush kit were stolen from the victim by a male who asked to see the items then refused to give the property back. When the victim told the suspect to give him back the property the suspect displayed a bottle of pepper spray at which time the victim left and contacted the police. The suspect was located by Laurel police and placed under arrest charged with theft and second-degree assault. All property recovered.

14400 Block Laurel Place     

Card holder containing five credit cards was stolen from the counter at Citi Bank. The incident was captured on video. Police are attempting to identify the suspect.

900 Block Washington Boulevard     

Various telephone equipment stolen from an electronics closet at Radio Shack by four suspects a white female and three black males who fled in an unknown direction.

100 Block Sixth Street     

2010 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, Red in color with Maryland tags 5AD1013.

08/21/11   

400 Block Armstrong Court     

2004 Honda Civic, 2 door, Black in color with Maryland tags 6ERP41. The car was recovered after Howard County Police stopped the car on a traffic violation and the driver fled and ran from the area and was not apprehended. The owner of the car left the keys to the car in the door of her apartment by mistake and did not realize the car was taken until police contacted her.

Unit Block Second Street    

2011 Nissan Altima, 4 door, Black in color with Pennsylvania tags DXK6645. This vehicle was rented in July and never returned by a man from Baltimore. A warrant has been obtained.

1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck, White in color with Maryland tags 75R595.

08/21/11   

500 Block Prince George Street     

No sign of forced entry. Taken were power tools, coins and sixty baseball cards.

08/25/11   

9400 Block Nickolas Lane     

Entry gained through a glass door. Victim was home during the incident and she reported three men enter her room, bound her hands and ankle with a power cord. The suspects searched the home but it does not appear they took any property. The victim was not injured. The suspects are described as three black males one was husky build, all 5’8” to 5’10”,  25-35 years of age and spoke a foreign language.

08/27/11   

300 Block Washington Boulevard     

Entry gained by throwing large rock through the glass door. Taken were ten packs of Newport cigarettes. Video captured the incident in which a white male through the rock through the glass door and a black male entered taking the cigarettes.

ROBBERIES

08/18/11   

Oxford Drive and Ashford Boulevard     

A 17-year-old Laurel teen reported that he was confronted and assaulted by 25 individuals and his Nike shoes stolen. Police are identifying the suspects and the investigation is continuing.

08/23/11   

14800 Block Baltimore Avenue   

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Payless Shoes. A man entered the store and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect had a white sock concealing an implied handgun. The employee told the suspect he could not open the register and when the employee picked the telephone up to call police the suspect fled into the mall towards to food court to an unknown direction. No one was injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 6-feet, 130 pounds, 30 to 35 years of age wearing blue denim Capri shorts, plaid polo shirt; clean shaven carried a white sock with an implied handgun. This is possibly the same suspect who attempted to rob CVS Pharmacy a few minutes earlier.
