2014 Maryland Gubernatorial Candidates Forum


The Prince George’s County Women’s Alliance is hosting a Gubernatorial Candidates Forum, Monday,
April 28, 2014, beginning at 7:00 PM, in the Bowie Performing Arts Center, 15200 Annapolis Rd, Bowie,
MD 20715. This event is hosted in partnership with the Prince George’s County Branch of the Women in
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (WIN), and the National Coalition of
100 Black Women, Inc., Prince George’s County, Maryland Chapter. The event is sponsored by Bowie
High School NJROTC (Navy Junior ROTC), Bowie High School Student Government Association, the
Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce and Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund. 

The following candidates for governor have accepted the Alliance’s invitation to participate in the forum
— The Honorable Anthony Brown, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, The Honorable David Craig,
Harford County Executive, The Honorable Douglas Gansler, Attorney General of Maryland, Mr. Charles
Lollar, and The Honorable Heather Mizeur, Delegate, District 20, and The Honorable Ron George, Delegate, District 30.

The Prince George’s County Women’s Alliance is a network of sorority chapters in Prince George’s
County, Maryland that serve similar needs in their community. The Alliance proudly includes the
following sorority chapters: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Gamma Omega Chapter, Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Tau
Omega Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc., Prince George's County Alumnae Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Tau Delta Zeta
Chapter, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Delta Zeta Zeta Chapter, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.,
Zeta Tau Sigma Alumnae Chapter.

“The purpose of this forum,” says Alana M Williams, Esq., Publicity Chair of the Steering Committee, “is
to give candidates for governor an opportunity to address policy issues vital to our state’s future, bring
awareness of the historical and important state primary election held in June, and to shed light on issues

unique to African Americans, women and Prince George’s County residents for the Gubernatorial
Candidates to consider. These issues involve a range of crucial matters that include education, health care, economic development, and public safety.”
