Wisdom Wednesdays: "Good Seasoning"

"Good Seasoning"

Do you have a favorite seasoning that makes everything taste so good?  I really like rosemary. Sometimes I will toast it in my cast-iron skillet, bake it over potatoes in the oven, or simply add it to a salad.  Whatever its use, I like it.  I am not a salt user but last year I started adding sea salt to my recipes and it does bring out the flavor.  This past week my pastor preached about salt in a different manner. He reminded us through God's Word that we are to be salt of the earth.  Matthew 5:13 tells us, "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men."  Wow, did you see the word "earth".  Hmm, I think that means everywhere we go we should leave a good seasoning of God's Word.

You may not think you have much impact on people, but God's Word assures us that Believers are Salt and Light. So, not only are you a good seasoning for other people (believers AND non-believers) but you are also light.  Yep, you!  Believe Matthew 5:16 when it tells us to "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."  Our lives should be reflective of God's Word.  No matter what you are going through, muster up enough faith in God's Word to be good seasoning for someone else.  Your light is brighter than you think.  Even when you don't have the right words to say, just show up with good seasoning and let God's light within you to just shine.
