Attic Fire Damages Townhouse in Laurel

A whole-house fan caught on fire at the residence, causing an estimated $10,000 of damage.

Fire damaged the attic of a townhouse in Laurel Wednesday morning, sending smoke into the sky and bringing emergency responders to the scene.

The fire began around 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Ct. Prince George's County firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in minutes, according to PGFD spokesman Mark Brady.

A whole-house fan apparently caught on fire at the residence, Brady reported. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The blaze appears to have been accidental, according to City of Laurel spokesman Pete Piringer. Damage to the home was estimated at $10,000.
