Police were called to a Laurel Walmart after a customer pointed what looked like a machine gun at an employee because he could not return items without a receipt.

Authorities said it was really a BB gun.

Shahzad M. Iqbal, 41, has been charged with attempted robbery, attempted first-degree assault and possession of a controlled substance, reports WJZ TV

According to the TV station, a suspect tried to return two used items of electronics without a receipt and was refused.

He then reportedly took out the gun, pointed it at the employee and demanded that money be returned to him before fleeing empty-handed.

Officers reportedly arrested him outside the store.

Correction: There are no Walmart stores in the City of Laurel. This is probably referring to the Walmart near Russett, several miles east of the city, in Anne Arundel county.

The address for Walmart is: 3549 Russett Green E, Laurel, MD 20724. The article does not state it is located in the city of Laurel.

A good reason to keep receipts.....or at least steal the receipts too on your next robbery spree. You never know when you need to return your defective stolen goods to a store, and they will want a receipt.

The man must be mentally unbalanced. He was in a Walmart, wasn't he?

Makes me wonder how that would have gone if he had gotten an actual firearm. Thankfully the law treats a bb gun the same as the real thing in these cases. I'd like to see the thought processes as he decided to unfold this master plan of a crime spree.
