City of Laurel Crime: Boyfriend Punches Pregnant Woman, Man Stabbed in Back

A rundown of incidents from Feb. 3-9 provided by the Laurel Police Department.

The following is a rundown of reported crimes and police responses in the City of Laurel from Feb. 3-9, 2013. Incident details are provided by Laurel Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

SUNDAY, FEB. 3

SHOPLIFTER ARREST, 300-BLK Domer Avenue, 1:27 p.m.: A 45-year-old suspect was arrested for shoplifting at the CVS.

MONDAY, FEB. 4

Calls for Service: 142 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, 500-BLK Ninth Street, 7:16 p.m.: A pregnant victim called to report being struck in the face by her boyfriend. The victim reported being punched in the face several times. Officers arrived and found the suspect had fled the scene, but police are familiar with the suspect and the investigation is ongoing. 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, 500-BLK Main Street, 10:08 p.m.: A victim called to report her granddaughter was intoxicated and had assaulted her. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct.

TUESDAY, FEB. 5

Calls for Service: 124 

WARRANT ARRESTS, 500-BLK Seventh Street, 7:07 p.m.: Officers responded to the Library for a CDS complaint. A 53-year-old suspect was stopped in the 600 block of Eighth St., and a 24-year-old suspect was stopped in the 500 block of Seventh St. A warrant check revealed that both parties had open warrants through Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office. Both were arrested without incident. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, 200-BLK Fort Meade Road, 9:14 p.m.: Officers responded for a report of a possible armed apartment invasion. Further investigation revealed that the victim thought he may have seen the grip of a handgun in the pants of one of the suspects. The suspects were identified, but no weapons were located. The investigation is ongoing. 

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 6

Calls for Service: 106

ASSIST FIRE DEPARTMENT, 100-BLK Bryan Court, 10:37 p.m.: The fire department responded for a working fire in progress. LPD units responded to assist. Due to the fire, one apartment was determined to be uninhabitable. Due to smoke damage, families in two other apartments were displaced. The resident manager was on scene and supplied housing to the displaced families. The fire department determined that the fire was accidental. 

WARRANT ARREST, 100-BLK Irving Street, 1:58 a.m.: During a traffic stop, a 35-year-old suspect was found to have an open warrant through Howard County. The suspect was arrested.

THURSDAY, FEB. 7

Calls for Service: 175

WARRANT ARREST, 811 Fifth Street, 5:32 p.m.: A 61-year-old suspect turned himself in at the police station. Ansell had an open warrant through Montgomery County for harassment.

WARRANT ARREST, 600-BLK Montgomery Street, 11:58 p.m.: A citizen called 911 and hung up. Officers responded to the address and observed a male suspect inside who is known to officers. The suspect had a protective order against him that maintains he is not to be in that residence. Officers were let in and arrested the suspect for violation of the protective order. It was also determined he had an open warrant for his arrest.

FRIDAY, FEB. 8

Calls for Service: 170

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, 15000-BLK Courtland Place, 10:59 a.m.: Officers responded to a supposedly vacant home and noticed signs that someone had been staying there. They also recovered spent shell casings. The investigation is ongoing.

STABBING, 14700-BLK Shiloh Court, 3:48 p.m.: Officers responded for a domestic assault. A male victim was stabbed twice in the back by a female suspect. A 21-year-old suspect was arrested on scene. The victim was transported to Prince George’s Hospital for treatment. 

DRUG ARRESTS, 15100-BLK Baltimore Avenue, 11:54 p.m.: An officer made a traffic stop and asked for K9 unit to assist. After a search of the vehicle due to the K9 alert, a vial of phencyclidine (PCP) was located. A 37-year-old suspect and a 56-year-old suspect were arrested. A subsequent search of revealed a small quantity of heroin on the latter suspect as well.

ASSAULT/TRESPASS ARREST, 800-BLK Fairlawn Avenue, 5:25 a.m.: Officers responded for a female who was assaulted. An 18-year-old suspect was located and arrested. The suspect was also previously banned from the apartment complex and was charged with trespassing.

SATURDAY, FEB. 9

Calls for Service: 122

DRUG ARREST, 100-BLK Washington Boulevard, 7:11 p.m.: An officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked outside of a bar. After making contact, officers located marijuana and the 52-year-old occupant was arrested.

WARRANT ARREST, 7700-BLK Cherry Lane, 8:43 p.m.: During a traffic stop an officer learned that the driver had an open warrant for his arrest. A 54-year-old suspect was arrested.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, 700-BLK Seventh Street, 9:24 p.m.: After a traffic stop, a 36-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of drug paraphernalia.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, 7500-BLK North Arbory Court, 1:09 a.m.: A 32-year-old suspect was arrested for 2nd degree assault stemming from a domestic assault.

DRUG ARRESTS, 8300-BLK Cherry Lane, 1:11 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop. Four arrests were made for drugs, concealed deadly weapon, and a warrant. One suspect attempted to flee on foot but was arrested after a pursuit and was charged with additional offenses. Four suspects—24, 31, 21, and 48 years of age—were arrested.

DRUG ARREST, 300-BLK Second Street, 2:42 a.m.: Officers observed an occupied vehicle parked at the business of Advanced Auto Parts, which was closed. After subsequent investigation, a 25-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana.
