City of Laurel Crime: Stabbing on Millbrook Lane, Drug Arrests

A rundown of incidents from March 17-22 provided by the Laurel Police Department.

The following is a rundown of reported crimes and police responses in the City of Laurel from March 17-22, 2013. Incident details are provided by the Laurel Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

Sunday, March 17
Calls for service: 147

BURGLARY, 14900-BLK Ashford Court, 3:52PM: A citizen of the neighborhood observed a suspicious person to the rear of a vacant townhome in the neighborhood. This individual immediately contacted the Laurel Police department who responded promptly. Once on scene Officers discovered that the vacant home was not secure and could observe movement within. Officers then made contacted with a 22-year-old suspect who was utilizing the vacant house without permission. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with 4th degree burglary.

DUI, 14500-BLK Laurel Bowie Road, 1:11AM: Officers initiated a traffic stop and suspected the driver of being under the influence of alcohol. After further investigation, the 28-year-old motorist was placed under arrest for suspected drunk driving.

Wednesday, March 20

ASSAULT ARRESTS: 15700-BLK Millbrook Lane, 1:26 PM: Officers responded to the area for the report of a juvenile who was suffering from knife wounds. Further investigation revealed the juvenile victim had also assaulted a female with a knife before he was assaulted. Officers were able to locate all subjects involved in the assault. The juvenile and a 33-year-old suspect were arrested for first degree assault.

DRUG ARREST: 7700-BLK Van Dusen Road, 3:12 PM: An officer on patrol observed several juvenile subjects sitting on a bench in Leo Wilson Park. The officer contacted the subjects who were later found to be in possession of marijuana and arrested.

DUI ARREST: 800-BLK Second Street, 12:48 AM: An officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. During the traffic stop the 27-year-old driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Thursday, March 21
Calls for service: 139

DRUG ARREST: 8300-BLK Cherry Lane, 5:01 PM: An officer observed a vehicle committing a moving violation and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. During the traffic stop marijuana was recovered and a 22-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana.

TRESPASSING/DRUG PARAPHERNALIA ARREST: Lafayette Road at Irving Street, 5:01 PM: While patrolling the area, an officer observed two subjects who were trespassing in the area of the railroad track. Officers contacted the two subjects—one a juvenille, the other 19 years old—who were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

BURGLARY ARREST: 700-BLK Montgomery Street, 12:15 AM: Officers responded to Laurel Boys and Girls Club for the report of a subject who forced entry to the building and was observed by the owner of the building to be sleeping in one of the rooms. Officers searched the building and located a 54-year-old suspect, who was arrested.

Friday, March 22

OPEN ALCOHOL ARREST: 15100-BLK Baltimore Avenue, 8:40 PM: An officer on patrol observed a subject soliciting for money on the lot of CVS. Officers contacted the 46-year-old subject and located an open container of alcohol. The suspect was then placed under arrest.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA ARREST: 400-BLK Montgomery Street, 11:17 PM: An officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle. During the stop, an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia was recovered. A 30-year-old suspect was arrested.
