Columbia Man Charged in 2 Laurel Subway Burglaries: Police

The man burglarized two Laurel Subway restaurants in less than 30 minutes, police said.

A Columbia man has been charged in connection with a series of burglaries at seven local Subway restaurants, the Howard County Police Department reported Wednesday.

Demond Herschell Woodson, 39, of the 6000 block of Majors Lane, was charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft and malicious destruction of property.

Police said Woodson is a driver for a delivery company that does work for Subway restaurants.

He was taken into custody on May 5 after a Subway burglary in another jurisdiction, Howard County police reported.

Woodson was charged with four counts of burglary and one count of resisting arrest on May 5 in Montgomery County, online court records show.

After Woodson was taken into custody, police said investigators connected him to the burglaries in Howard County.

Police said Woodson was charged in the following Howard County Subway burglaries:

  • 4:33 a.m. on May 5 at 6010 University Blvd., Suite 109, Columbia
  • 2:35 a.m. on April 25 at 7500 Montpelier Road, Laurel
  • 2:06 a.m. on April 25 at 8305 Ice Crystal Dive, Laurel
  • 1:02 a.m. on Feb. 16 at 8765 Centre Park Drive, Suite 12A, Columbia

  • 2:24 a.m. on Dec. 6 at 7106 Minstrel Way, Columbia
In each case, the suspect forced entry by taking out the front glass door with a small tool, police said. In most cases, cash registers or cash drawers were stolen, according to police.

Detectives are investigating whether Woodson may be involved in additional cases, according to the report.

Police said Woodson was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.
