Commercial Break-in in Savage: Howard County Crime Reports

Savage

Commercial break-in – Irvine Access Floors

Nothing was reported stolen, but someone cut a hole in a fence to gain access to a scrap trash receptacle at Irvine Access Floors in the 9400 block of Washington Blvd around 1 a.m. on April 13.

Columbia

Assault, Attempted Robbery

Approximately 10 individuals approached a man who was walking in the 5400 block of Blue Heron Lane and threatened him. One of the individuals held a Taser to the man, as others attempted to take his cell phone.

After a struggle, which resulted in a minor injury to the victim, the attackers fled on foot.

Police located a 14-year-old male nearby the scene hiding behind a vehicle. In the same area, they located a pink Taser in a black case. The 14-year-old was charged with attempted robbery.

Robbery

Two males assaulted a juvenile and stole his cell phone at the intersection of Columbia Road and Little Patuxent Parkway. The juvenile was transported to Howard County General. Police did not provide detailed descriptions of the suspects.

Robbery

A man was approached by two acquaintances who demanded money and his cell phone at the intersection of Early April Way and Skyrocket Court around 8 p.m. on April 11. The man refused to give away his property and began to walk away when he was assaulted from behind by one the acquaintances. At that time the man threw his cash and cell phone on the pavement, which the other men took. The victim was not seriously injured and police did not provide suspect descriptions.

Assault, Attempted Robbery

A man punched an acquaintance in the head as the two men got off a bus near the Central Columbia library around 9 p.m. on April 12. The attacker demanded money, but the victim, who suffered a large laceration, refused and left on foot. Police described the suspect as a black male, about 6-foot-3, with a thin build who was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Commercial burglary – New Dimension Pumbling

A heat gun, cable and copper pipe were stolen from New Dimension Plumbing in the 8900 block of Guilford Road after someone used a rock to shatter the front glass window of the business sometime between April 12 and April 15.

Possible break-in

A resident returned home to a house in the 9500 block of Wandering Way around 10 p.m. on April 13 and heard noises coming from a rear room. When the resident went to investigate, a rear sliding door was found open, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Residential Burglary

Lawn care tools were stolen from a residence in the 6400 block of Fairest Dream Lane during the afternoon of April 13. Police reported someone gained entry through an unsecured garage door.

Burglary Arrest

A 25-year-old man, who has no fixed address, was charged with burglary and a weapons charge after police responding to a burglary call found him walking in the 9400 block of Gerwig Lane, carrying brass knuckles around 10:15 p.m. on April 11.

Elkridge

Armed Robbery

A newspaper delivery person was robbed of his wallet, cash and watch after two men approached him, one armed with a gun, and demanded the items around 6 a.m. on April 14 in the 6800 block of Waterloo Road. After the incident, both suspects fled behind Deep Run Elementary School. Police provided the following descriptions of the suspects:

Suspect 1: Black male, 6-foot-1, about 200 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, who was armed with a handgun.

Suspect 2: White male, 5-foot-5, about 160 pounds, wearing a hoodie jean jacket and black jeans.

Commercial burglary – Environmental Maintenance

Someone cut a hole in the fence at Environmental Management in the 6500 block of Hanover Road, popped the ignition of a dump truck and moved it so it wasn’t block a gate.  Then two work trucks, with two attached trailers, that were loaded with equipment were stolen sometime between April 12 and April 15. A 2008 Ford F-250 and a 2008 Ford F-350 were reported stolen in the incident.

Commercial break-in – Hess Gas Station

Someone broke the front glass door to the Hess Gas Station at 6300 Washington Blvd. with a rock, but was unable to make entry due to a steel door blocking the entrance to the business around 4 a.m. on April 14.

Commercial break-in – Nail Salon

Next to the Hess, someone threw a rock at the front glass door to a nail salon in the 6300 block of Washington Blvd., gained entry and stole cash from a desk drawer and nail polish around 4:20 a.m. on April 14.

North Laurel

Robbery arrest

A woman who was walking near the 9200 block of All Saints Road was approached by a male subject, armed with a knife, who demanded money on April 11 around 9 p.m. The woman ran to her vehicle and fled. Police later located and arrested a 22-year-old Laurel man believed to be involved in the incident.

Jessup

Commercial burglary attempt

Someone threw a rock through a glass door of Tobacco Leaf in the 7300 block of Assateague Drive, but no entry was made at 3:24 a.m. on April 15.

Dayton

Barn break-in

A tractor was started and left running in a barn in the 4400 block of Linthicum Road after someone broke the lock on the barn door to make entry sometime in the evening on April 12.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A tan 2002 Ford Explore was reported stolen in the 7300 block of Washington Blvd on April 14.

A yellow and black 2003 moped was reported stolen on All Saints Road on April 15.
