County Crime Watch: Baby Found in Stolen Car, Wig Shop Robbed

Car Stolen With Baby Inside, PGPD Recovers Both

Having a stolen vehicle recovered was a relief to one area mother, because she was reunited with her unharmed baby, who was left inside when she was carjacked.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) news blog, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 3800 block of Suitland Road in southeast D.C. around 7:35 a.m. on March 13th. Police said that PGPD located the baby unharmed in a reported stolen vehicle later that morning at Rail Street and Arcadia Avenue. According to police reports, the investigation will be handled by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Wig & Beauty Shop Targetted For Armed Robbery

According to PGPD news blog reports, on March 10th, 2012, at approximately 10:24 a.m., a suspect committed a commercial armed robbery at the Modern Wig & Beauty Supply, located at 22 Audrey Lane, in Oxon Hill.

The report says that the Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify the suspect. The surveillance camera photos of the suspect are posted with this article.

Arrest Made in Brooks Drive Murder

According to PGPD news blog reports, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 27 year-old Jonathan Blades in connection with the murder of 19 year-old Darryl Nicholas McCoy in Suitland, Maryland.

The police said homicide detectives identified Jonathan Blades, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, as a suspect in this case and was subsequently arrested in Temple Hills, Maryland, on March 12, 2012. Blades has been charged with first degree murder and has been remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Md. on a no bond status.

According to police reports, on January 5, 2012, at approximately 2:18 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 2000 block of Brooks Drive to check on the welfare of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, officers found 19 year old Darryl Nicholas McCoy lying near the parking lot of an apartment complex suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Detectives are still currently working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case.
