Fire Breaks Out Near South Laurel

A family of seven was displaced by the Sunday fire, but no injuries were reported.

Two adults and five children were displaced after a fire erupted from their home near South Laurel on Sunday.

The incident happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 8700 block of Bovelder Drive in the Woodbridge Crossing Community of Beltsville near Capitol College, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS.

Smoke was seen shooting from the home, according to reports. When units from Beltsville, Laurel and Anne Arundel County Fire Departments arrived on the scene, they reported heavy fire on all floors of the two-story house.

Firefighters who entered the house were forced out when a partial collapse of the roof occurred, leaving firefighters to battle the flames from the outside.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported, according to fire/EMS spokesman Mark Brady.

Fire investigators have determined the fire to be accidental due to improper disposal of grilling materials.
