Gas Spill at Freestate Gas Station

Customer pulls out of gas station with hose still in car at gas station near Laurel Shopping Center.

A gas station near the Laurel Shopping Center was closed Wednesday night after a customer caused a hazmat scare when they pulled their car away from the pump station, with the hose still attached to the fuel tank.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. along the 900 block of Washington Blvd at the Freestate gas station. The incident brought out firefighters from the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and the Prince George's County Fire Department Hazmat Team to help contain the spill.

The gas station will remain close until an inspection of the gas pump is concluded.
