Head-On Crash in Howard County Kills 1, Injures 2

A car traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Md Rt. 32 struck a tow truck driven by a Laurel man.

An early-morning crash Saturday on MD Rt. 32 killed one person and hospitalized two others, according to Howard County police officials.

The collision occurred about 4:15 a.m. on MD Rt. 32, just east of Dorsey Run Road, according to a statement from the police department. A 2004 Acura MDX was traveling westbound on Rt. 32 in the eastbound lanes when it struck a 2011 Hino tow truck traveling in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene. She is not being identified by police officials until her family is notified.

The front seat passenger of the Acura was injured and taken to the University of Maryland's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where she is in critical condition, according to police.

The driver of the tow truck, Paul Travis Grove, 28, of the 100 block of Sharon Court in Laurel, was also injured and taken to the trauma center. He is reported to be in stable condition.

The crash closed Rt. 32 for about three hours. Howard County police officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
