What a waste of time and money. Many other counties outside of the US have legalized prostitution. Legalize it, test the girls regularly for STDS, and tax them. Let them work in safe environments, which will eliminate a lot of the crime aspect. Let the girls be able to call police if they are being hurt or victimized. Prostitution will always happen, it will never disappear. If the cops and government were so concerned maybe they could spend taxpayers money by setting up programs to help girls get out of the business instead of arresting them so now they have a record and have no chance of a real career or future. Give me a break, the cops and government have NO care for bettering these girls lives. It's all about making money yet they are so much better than prostitutes.

The undercover officers might attract more Johns if they're not in 'plain clothes.'

Quite appalled to see the direction some of these people have chose to take on this subject! Bottom line is this is about prostitution. Not race, not illegals, or white trash etc. etc.! I sadly AM a resident of Laurel,Md and can spit on Rt.1 from my home. I can look outside on ANY given day and spot @ least 1 hooker waltzing down the Blvd. Its almost the norm. What pisses me off the MOST is the PIGS who drive these streets and honk/wave/wiggle tongues/harass innocent ladies, women, hell, even teens who happen to walk just about ANYWHERE near a road in this area! I'm not exaggerating! As a mother, it especially upsets me that these sickos don't even care that my 8 year old is holding my hand! As just 1 woman of Laurel among MANY, I thank Howard County Police for their efforts in cleaning these streets up, one day, and one creep (whatever color they be) @ a time!
