4 Trees Reported Down in Laurel, Family Displaced

Prince George's County Fire and EMS is reporting that four trees fell in various parts of Laurel Monday night.

Four Laurel families were directly affected by Hurricane Sandy when trees fell on their homes Monday night.

Prince George's County Fire and EMS rescuers were called out to four scenes where trees damaged homes in Laurel within a two-hour period.

One Laurel family was relocated after Hurricane Sandy's winds knocked a tree over into their home in the 7000 block of Contee Road in Laurel around 6:30 p.m.

According to Prince George's County Fire/EMS Spokesman Mark Brady the home was deemed unsafe after the roof was "significantly damaged," so the family will have to leave their home for the night.

Only 30 minutes later, another tree fell against a home in the 300 block of Eleventh Road in Laurel. Brady said there were no injuries and no significant damage to the home.

The roof was damaged on another Laurel home when a tree fell in the 16100 block of Gerald Road just after 8 p.m. No injuries were reported there either.

Only a minute later, another incident was reported when a tree fell into a home in the 7000 block of Red Miles Road. Brady reported a large tree branch on the roof, but was unsure about the amount of damage. No injuries were reported there either.
