Laurel Man Killed in Head-On Collision
A Laurel man was killed and the driver of a second car was seriously injured Wednesday in a head-on crash on Contee Road.
A Laurel man died and another person was injured in a head-on collision on Contee Road with speed as a likely factor, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
The victim is Maurice Michael Barnes, 32, of the 13100 block of Larchdale Road in Laurel.
Officers were called about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 8600 block of Contee Road for a two-car accident. Both drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Barnes later died of his injuries; the second driver is expected to survive. There were no passengers in either car.

Police say Barnes was driving westbound on Contee Road when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the second car head on.
