A Laurel man was killed Saturday afternoon when he crashed his motorcycle into the rear of a Mercedes SUV that had slowed to turn into a private driveway in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Police say Alan Evans, 51, of the 8600 block of Felsview Drive in Laurel died at the scene despite live-saying efforts of emergency personnel, including an off-duty Howard County firefighter who came upon the collision before Montgomery County Fire & Rescue personnel arrived.

Lauren Fishman, 44, of the 10900 block of Brewer House Road in Rockville, who was driving the Merdedes, and a 14-year-old female passenger, were not injured.

It happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of Annapolis Rock Road near Damascus where the SUV and the motorcycle were traveling eastbound, police say. As the SUV turned into the driveway, the motorcycle crashed into the back of the SUV.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact police at (240) 773-6620 or call the non-emergency number at (301) 279-8000. Callers may remain anonymous.

CORRECTION: Felsview Drive is not in the City of Laurel, but rather in the area generally known as "North Laurel" west of I-95.

Felsview Drive is not in area known as "North Laurel" but known as Scaggsville...like on the big sign on I-95. I was wondering if the car was turning in OR backing out. Alan was a well seasoned rider and it seems odd that he would hit the back of a SUV!!!! There has to be more to this...
